The Undersecretary of Tourism of Baja California emphasized that as a state government they have joint work with the medical clusters: two in Tijuana and one in Mexicali, to work on giving greater certainty to visitors about the medical procedures offered.
“This year we are promoting, together with the Ministry of Health and the State Commission for the Prevention of Health Risks, a registry or register of medical services, so that they are registered, within state and federal regulations, verifying that people who practice this type of services and accreditations,” he commented.
They also work with insurance agencies and insurers in the United States and Canada on how medical insurance applies in Mexico. In June they were in Vancouver and last week in Ontario, Canada to make the first connection so that their patients can be treated in Mexico.
The main medical services that are required by foreigners are: dentistry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and oncology and they have a greater number of patients in Tijuana, Mexicali and Rosarito, and they seek temporary accommodation for the recovery of patients.
